Man, I feel for you after all of the hard work and dedication that you've had on your clean and hot SC. It's sad but you're right that's S...t happens.
It sounds like you just have liability insurance on this SC and not full coverage. If you have full coverate, then it shouldn't be a problem. However, the insurance doesn't pay for custom parts, unless you specified them before and paid extra.
If you're thinking about parting out the car, could you sell me the fog lights?

man, that's harsh
my first car ever, bought as a none runner, fixed it up, drove it w/o incident.
went something like this. painted it, put it back together on a saturday, rear ended a tacoma on monday. (wasn't totalled)
I drove it exactly once.
grandparents car, rusty wheels, rest of car clean. I cleaned off the rust, new coat of paint on the wheels. doing the right thing as a grandson, i checked the fluids, tire pressures etc, find oil in the coolant. crap. flush it out, for the time being, fill with coolant, drive it around the block (literally) t-belt snaps, bends 5 valves.
dad's car, rusted steelies, painted the wheels, a week later, the headgasket blows.
It's the curse of a paint job man. Interesting how the hood looks undamaged. Any pics of the rav 4 airbag in an IS steering wheel before it blew?

Definitely a nice benzo, if you're pondering the German route. Have you considered a newer model (03+ i believe) A4?
