some of these wood trim kits on the sc's actually look pretty good in pictures but a lot of people say their cheap and their crap, i know that they are adhesive, so are they a sticker? a piece of plastic? what the deal

My experience with wood trim kits on my Corolla were bad. They were so easy to peal off and looked really cheesy. I wanted something more perminent. I'm glad our SCs have wood trim from the factory. The only thing I'd like to add on my car is a wood trim shifter and a 3-spoke wood trim steering wheel. I'll probably just go on eBay and pick up some used ones from other cars like the 98-00 SC and the RX300.

I'd suggest searching around for other options before you commit to the flat trim kits. I remember I had found one company which had a really good service:

You remove the panel you want coated, mail it to them, then they coat it completely in wood or whatever style you want, and ship it back to you. I never did it because the Corolla was just a commuter car and I didn't want to spend a lot of money, but for a Lexus I'd say go that route. It may cost more, but it wont look cheap.

I paid less than 500 dollars to have the GS 3 spoke, wood grain wheel wrapped and the entire wood trim + Cup holder top in black wood from PatternTek. Save the money and do it right the first time I'd say

Personally, I don't care for the "wood trim treatment" on the HVAC control, radio face, ash tray and shifter surround. If mine were in better condition, I'd even offer to trade with someone straight up.

Clean un-cluttered looks better, IMHO.
