Lightbulb Anyone with a Wood Kit Review?

Just wondering -

Has anyone had experience with the AlkaPlus or B&I Wood Dash kits?

The AlkaPlus:
http://www.alkaplus.com/cgi-bin/cata...l&ProductID=35

The B&I Kit:
http://www.bitrim.com/wd157.htm

Difference between kits in build quality, etc?

I've looked at past threads regarding wood kits - A lot of GS and ES owners have them, and they look fine to me. From what I've read, Lexus Dealers seem to stock the B&I brand kit.

I have a cracked radio face and would like something to cover up the blemish Don't want to mix factory birds eye Maple with artificial carbon fiber .....

Thanks

Good Question. I am interested as well. I probably won't use all pieces, but I want the ones around the shifter/ashtray.

Another site is: www.wooddash.com. My dad got a set for his caddy and it looked good - very OEM looking.

I would also like like to hear about those that did the wood/leather steering conversion.

Thumbs up

I just installed my wood dash kit from B&I over this past weekend, and what a difference it made! I also had some blemishes, at the ash tray cover. By adding the wood dash to the center console it made the overall appearence of the interior complete.

I have been trying to get this same info for over 3 years now. No one seems to want to give a review.

Anyway, I went to that bitrim.com and they didn't seem to have any prices. Anyone get a price from them?

I am a valet at johnson lexus and so I drive many of the cars that come up for service. I have never seen a good looking wood dash kit in an SC or any other Lexus and I definitely have seen my share of dash kits in these cars. They all look plasticky and very cheap. I definitely would not recommend getting a dash kit. I think they all look very cheap.

I think the key is to use the wood sparingly. I WOULD NOT place wood grain directly over the stereo. I would only add it over the ashtray and around the shifter gate. If you do that and throw the other pieces away, it will be sweet.

BTW, The B&I kits are the best.

Looking forward to seeing the pics guys. Also, are all the sights selling the same kit by B&I?

Similar subject - if you guys like wood, have you seen the steering wheel on the GS430? I noticed that '99-00 SC's have a three spoke wheel. Do you think there is a way to make it work? If so I bet it's big$$$.

Cool Wood Dash Pics 1of5

As I promised, attached are the pics of my B&I Wood Dash Kit,
I installed last week. I am not quite happy with the quality of
the pictures. (Working on obtaining better images and posting
later). At least you get an idea of the concept.
I am posting the pics for those who requested them. Also
for those who are interested and considering
installing the Kit, to enhance the ever unslighty
Appearance and Characteristics of plain, unfinished
Black plastic (Dull Plastik!). Please refrain from your
negative personal opinons. (I Know that everyone
is entitled to their own opion).

But Either you like it!............................or you don't!!
