Everything on the damn SC weighs a TON !!!

Anything you take off and opt for light pieces usually is almost a 80lbs lighter. LOL. The hood, the trunk and the doors all together would make your car SOOOO much lighter, but definitely hinders the strength of it too.

I'm sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but does anyone have any real date on the weight of a factory door? I know they are heavy. If both doors can save 150lbs this is a very well worth it mod, as it would result in .15 off my time more less, however it is expensive and I'd hate to jump on it with out real world data.

Also i saw someone mention Fiber glass doors. Who makes this and can they be bought?

I"m working in shaving another 200-250lbs off my car and this would be a HUGE saving.

^^^sorry i dont have any actual data. i had to replace a hinge once on a customers car and the door was a pain to lift on my own. it is well over 100lb. id say in the 115's.

get rid of the sunroof assembly, another 50ish lb, and you have a pretty fast car. lol. JK

i have a buddy that does cf work. he said if i pay for materials he will do it.

maybe i can have him use the stock glass as a mold and then mass produce them. i already drew up plans and showed him what i want done. he said it would be easy. i guess if there is some kind of demand for it i can have him make a few and throw them on the sleazebay. lol.

way to go would be to just flush it with carbon repaint the roof and put a head liner of a non sunroof car for max weight reduction or chance of leaks...but i wont try that with the Kandy paint that **** can't be blended

If i can sell my whole assembly, i'd buy the CF piece for the same price.

Tell him to make it.......$50?

I was just going to add in that my sunroof assembly was about 34 lbs with everything when I took it out. Lots of extra brackets holding onto the roof compared to a normal car. Must be to prevent squeaks ect.
