weight of the seibon carbon fiber doors versus the weight of the stock doors?

This thread was orig. aboutC.F. doors, but since its been jacked, I called Lexus about a headliner for a non-power roof car and he said around $250.00. OUCH. Plus the hassle of removal and install. My fact headliner is perf., all that said I wish my car was a hardtop.

I though of CF doors at one point too. But like someone else, I wanted it to look as stock as possible w/ power windows, locks, and even the memory seats. It does seem like too much trouble now and leaving all those things is sure to keep some weight on. I just like the nimbleness of my Celica, no matter how slow it is, and I was just looking for ways to make the SC lightweight as too.
Oh well.
Oh well.

Luxury smuxury, if I cant make my SC lighter within a minimal budget and work, Im going to move on, when I can get a fair price. After saying that, the Sc is a well built car, good bang for the buck. If money werent tight Id be shopping for a 98-00 SC400.

I just brought these doors man. let me tell you, they are very very light. both carbon fiber doors are still a lot lighter then one stock door. the only things that suck about the doors that you have to drill out some holes yourself. the doors will take time to install also, so dont think that you going to be done in 2 or 3 hours. my goal is to make my sc300 2800lbs
i have done a tone of wight reductions. ill post pics when im done.

hmm, 2700lbs is a big feat. id love to see how they taken off almost 1,000lbs of weight with all the extra safety mods, ie rollcages etc. its hard enough to get a supra down under 3,000lbs even for a true race car.

^^^ the reason its hard to get a supra to 3000 lbs is because there is not to much you can do to save weight. the hood on the supra is aluminum the hood on the sc300 is steel. the seats in a supra are pretty light the seats in a sc300 are very heavy etc. etc. here is a list of the stuff that i took off. this car is my weekend sleeper, street racing money maker and drag car. here it is
carbon fiber hood
carbon fiber doors
rear bumper support
front bumper support
removed all sound dampening
no heater core ( I can fit a bottle of nos there now) heavy
no spare, jack, cd changer, tool kit, first aid kit
stock fuel tank replaced with an 20 gallon aluminum fuel cell ( big weight saver)
cut out where the spare goes and used an aluminum plate
single hks titanium 4 inch down pipe back ( big weight saver)
replaced stock seats with two racing seats that combined weight is 60lbs with brackets
a/c completely removed ( this removes alot of lbs)
power steering completely removed
coilovers ( this upgrade removed at least 20lbs)
no charcoal canister
removed all seat belts
removed all air bags
light wight big front calipers kit
lighter intake manifold
lighter radiator
lighter pulleys
turbo manifold is lighter then stock cast iron tt manifold
removed all heat shields
lighter steering wheel
lighter do-luck wheels
no trunk carpets
there might be more but cant remember.
ill try to weigh the stock bare door and bare carbon door since all the guts are going back in to the carbon fiber doors. i think you can drive with them every day thats not the problem the problem would be leaving the door open for a long time since its a long door. the doors do look to be pretty strong.
