For boosted SC's that have gone to the drag strip...
I posted this on SF, but didn't really get much of a response, so I thought I'd try here. I have a 2JZ-GTE swapped '92 SC300 making 540whp/500wtq (Dynojet), on pump gas. I've been to the drag strip plenty of times, but always with my FWD or AWD cars, both of which were 600+whp, and was able to get a 10sec slip out of the AWD one, but have never drag raced a RWD car. I'm using the 6spd Getrag (V161), w/6spd LSD pumpkin, single piece driveshaft, and a triple carbon clutch (Carbonetic). The turbo setup is a 4094R, HKS 4 row FMIC, and am using an AEM EMS for engine mgmt. I decided to run the MT drag radials on the stock supra wheels. I know that these cars are heavy, but with that kind of power, using the AEM's anti lag, and on the MT drag radials, is this an 11sec car? It's full weight, A/C, stereo and all. The only weight saving I've done is the Sparco seats, which are quite a bit lighter than the stock Lexus seats, but that's it. I was also gonna throw some solid diff mounts in there to try to minimize any wheel hop, but that's all I could think of. I'm a pretty good driver, but because of my lack of experience with this car at the strip, and RWD cars in general, I just don't know what to expect from it. Just curious what others thought, and what kinda times it should run, given the weight/power. Thanks.

I've never run this car before. With my DSM's, I ran 10's, but I've never taken this thing down the track before. I wasn't sure how fast it would be given the power I'm making, and the weight of the car. I figure it should be decent with the AEM anti lag, MT drag radials, and a decent enough launch, but I really don't know what to expect.

Yeah, I don't really know how much power it takes to get these cars into the 11's with them being so heavy, but I figured with 540whp/500wtq, I should be fairly close. The MT drag radials are supposed to hook up really well too, so I figure I have a better chance to run a decent time.

It should *easily* be in the 11's. A 6-speed full weight Supra in the lower 400's can get there with a good enough driver, and those are in the 3600-3700lb. range.

That being said these cars aren't the easiest cars to get down the strip in a 6-speed and take some practice. So what it "should run" and what it will run your first time out are two different things. Only way to know for sure is to run it

Really? 11's that easily power to weight wise? I didn't think that given the weight, it would run much better than an 11.9 with a near perfect launch. What kind of 60fts are people seeing on their 11sec passes?

What kinda DR's were you running and how much air pressure? Did you use a 2step or anything? Also, what clutch setup were you using? I'm hoping that adding these things will help my cause, lol.

That was with 17" Nitto DR's, not the best tires, about 18psi in them and no 2-step. I think I was running a stock clutch disk with an ACT pressure plate back then. That was several years ago so I don't remember all the details.

Well, I checked out the MT's that I ordered, and they're by FAR stickier than any other DR I've ever used. It's almost like a slick...just has some tread cut into it. We'll see what it does when I leave on the anti lag/2 step on those tires. I'm gonna cut some shims out of some raw metal I have and use those as solid diff mounts to help reduce any wheel hop I might get. We'll see, but if I can cut an 11sec slip, I'll be happy. I thought it would take more power than what I'm making to run 11's, but from the guys on here who have powerful supras with similar weight, and identical drivelines, I guess I'm wrong.

540WHP is plenty to get you a mid high 120mph trap.
Be careful with the wheelhop, it will destroy your diff. Are you using anti lag or just the 2 step with retard to build boost? How much boost on the 2step before you come off the line? You have the AEM turning it off at 3mph?
