Default gas prices and you.... what are you doing about it?

Hey guys

Ever since i switched from my 240sx to a sc300, ive noticed a bigger hit on my wallet with gas..

Since we all know gas isnt going to get any cheaper...Id really like to know how you guys are dealing with it. I ask because i really want to further modify my sc300 (coils, wheels, turbo, etc) but im reluctant to because it doesnt seem like too sound an investment.. what should i do?!

I have an '93 SC400 and a Nissan Frontier. The SC gets about 18 MPG, the Nissan about 25. The SC takes premium, the Nissan takes regular. I share the driving load between the two vehicles. and put only about 300 miles per month on the SC.

At this rate my Lexus will hit 100K miles in about 14 years. That will put her at 29 years old!

yeah it really blows. I do lots of driving on my sc300 and with the gas prices goin up, i have put a hold on lots of my plans. It will help if you keep the car tuned up ie: fresh plugs, air filter, cap, rotor, wires, etc. I've converted to electric fans and that seemed to help a bit plus acceleration.

I average 23mpg in my SC400, not comlaining. My Land Cruiser gets a smidge under 12mpg. Both take premium.

What am I doing about it???

Nothing right now. I should be driving less but I've come to realize that I can't sit still for too long. My Tacoma costs me about $70 bucks for 3/4 tank of gas...LoL

I just paid $42.20 for a little over half a tank of Chevron 91 Premium today...that was at $4.19 per gallon!

When I started out driving, it was only $1.27 per gallon for Premium...it has more than tripled since those days....

Oh well...

I usually put in around 60-65$ a week, so Im not hurting. I work close to home and have a company truck so I dont put many miles on it right now. My last car I would put in $30-40/week, and go out cruising almost every night (4-banger). My car is slow right now so I have no interest in cruising, but I know Ill be hurting once I go turbo.

I'm not worrying about it too much yet. I mainly only drive to/from work. Even with gas prices the way they are, I'm putting in ~$20/wk. I used to have to put in $60/wk when I worked out of town, when premium was at like $2.75. God that sounds like a bargain right about now.

I have a Buick that I plan on getting running, it'll get about 5mpg probably. Hahaha. I plan on eventually selling that and going 1JZ... for the gas mileage of course. Probably get some coilovers and lighter-weight wheels, for aerodynamics and weight savings. All about the gas mileage!

I don't eat out anymore, I go to work, school, and come straight home. I don't fill up the tank anymore, I only spend $20 everytime I need gas.

I only get 12 mpg in my Sc300 but I do run 17psi 2jz-gte on a t66 so it gets driving on day a week at best while the civics 32mpg gets the most seat time. (premium is 3.76 here in Augusta GA)

Guys I don't know how this is possible but my GTE gets about 28 mpg, if I'm light on the gas. Anyone else have a 2jz-gte that gets really good mpg?

i drive very calm and try to do too much "spirited driving" when not necessary. i still get about 23mpg.

gas prices suck but if you want to complain about gas and the SC then maybe you should own a civic.
