Default The Car is getting worked on.

Well just an update. I took the car to my mechanic on Monday 2june to get the parts installed. Here is my list of things I am Having done.
Bilstein shocks. with Carerra springs 500lb/300lb. Lowered 1 1/2 " in the front and 1" in the back . ATE Brake pads and a Brake service . New SS brake lines. Sway Bar bushings ,Steering Rack Bushings, and Front Control arm Bushings.Painting the Rotors Black . A/C service and a L.O.F. ( Mobil 1 what else.) . So why am I taking it to a mechanic? Well the last few times I tried do it yourself I had to pay 2x. Once when I bumbled and then for the mechanic to do it. Plus I have the Cheese. I feel like a kid who is going to Disney World . I take some pics when I get it back. Sumo

Nice find.

Your priority should be shocks/springs first my friend! I'd suggest coilovers.

SC's with low miles around FL is due to the high cost($40K) of the car when new and the original owners are getting old and can not get in and out of it. Remember where I live I am considered a young gun. Ha Sarasota/ Bradenton is Silver hair Central. I almost bought a LS400 for my kid w/ 80k miles and it was a '96.The old people tried E bay and thought they got what they wanted . BUT come time to pay up, the top 3 bidders were just POSERS. I told the guiy I would drive up and go to the Credit Union but he got GREEDY. Hence my kid is driving a 00 es300. The time to buy a LEXUS or a nice car in FL is FEB/March as the Snowbirds are getting ready to head North and they want to get rid of their toys or need the $$$.Sumo

Default Update

So I got all the work done . The springs have settled and it is too low. I could not drive it without the tires rubbing. So back to the shop this morning to raise it 3/4 " up all around. The front was so low I could not get a finger between the tire and fender. On a round about I can usually do 45 mph around it. I tried it Sat nite and it rubbed as soon as I started to hit the turn.
The ATE brakes were growling when I first got the car back 10days a go. They have seemed to quite down and the Mechanic is going to do some work on the rotor also.
I retrofiited the AC with R134A system. Not as expensive as I thought it would be . It does Blow nice and cold.
I will get pics when I get the car back from the mechanic.
QUESTION ... My mechanic mentioned there is a guy in Miami who tunes sc 300 's. IE new ICU program and bigger injectors. Anuone know anything about that? Sumo

Highly doubt that guy tunes SC300s with a new "ICU" program. The stock ECU is not programmable and requires a custom daughtercard and some seriously complex circuitry to override and still allow the car to be OEM-drivable. There is only one company to have ever hacked it that I could ever find and the cost of a consumer-level kit is pretty high.

Running larger than stock injectors when you're stock is absolutely pointless and a complete waste of money. Dont waste your money "tuning" an SC300 with anything short of a turbocharger on it. Sure, you could get an SAFC2/Neo and tune it on a dyno and make an extra 10-15whp after you install an exhaust and a couple other boltons. So you've spent almost $1000 to tune a car that might not break 200whp and you'll cry at night when you remember that a high-school kid on the way home outran you in his mom's STOCK V6 Camry.

Your car looks great and will make a great DD if you don't drive long distances (and eat up the gas). Its comfy, looks good, rides good, and can be fun to drive. I'd leave it at that unless you intend on going turbo
