I use that trick on many customers of mine who think they don't have anything in their paint and think they clayed enough or don't need to clay at all. One swipe with that bag and they will realize really quickly how good or bad of shape its in.
Hmm, that's a good idea, but I thought it was common knowledge. My clay bar package included a plastic glove with instructions for feeling the smoothness of the paint before and after the application.

Awesome tips. Hadn't heard the plastic bag one, but I'm definitely going to try it. Also, thanks for the waxing tip-post clay bar. More pics at dusk yesterday.

It only gets dirty on the side you are using. Fold it over on itself and start over. I have had the same clay bar for nearly 2 years and have done at least 150-250 cars with it. I've had cars where I had to fold it over at least 5 times and some that didn't require it to be folded at all. If used properly, and stored properly, you shouldn't have to replace it for a very very long time.

Hopefully the plastic glove or bag trick is common knowledge. I use it specifically for customers who think their paint is so clean it doesn't need any clay or want to cheap out on the detail I am offering. One swipe with a glove or bag and their mind quickly changes.

Nice. I couldn't believe how much stuff came off when I did mine a few weeks ago. There's some areas that need to be professionally looked at but all in all a genius invention
