Clay Bar is so money- 92 Diamond White SC300
92 SC300 Diamond White and the things looks absolutely ridiculous for 16 years old. I still can't believe it's original paint and now I found the clay bar. Wow. Highly recommended. iPhone pics blow.

1 hour. I took my time because it's never had the clay done to it. Also, clay doesn't seem to work on the same principles of elbow grease. I tried rubbing hard in a couple places and it didn't help. Just a constant movement and eventually everything will come off...assuming the paint wasn't damaged.

DWP '92 here also. I've tried using a clay bar and I just can't get the hang of it. Do you just have to keep doing light strokes over the wet surface? How do you know when you're done?

yes light strokes in straight lines never in circles. after you wipe the detailing spray off with a terry or microfibre cloth use the back of you hand and go over the area you just clayed. it should feel smooth as a babys bottom. if its still rough then it means theres still paint contaminats and you should respray and do it till its smooth. be sure to kneed the clay frequently so you get fresh clay.

your sandstone looks good, might have to try the clay bar out, does it have benefits over wax, etc.? Edit: Nevermind, it just looked like sandstone, at first.

Claying a car will remove these bumps and really bring out the shine. You can then buff and wax the car for a great looking result.

Couple things worth mentioning here that I think need to be said.
First off, car looks very good from what I can see in the picture. Make SURE you protect the paint quickly with something. Polish, wax, whatever. Your paint is now completely "naked" and has nothing to protect it.
A good trick to see if you have clayed it enough is the plastic bag trick. Take a plastic bag from a grocery store and put your hand inside it and then run it over the paint. Even if it feels smooth to the touch with just your hand on it, more than likely you will feel EVERYTHING when your hand is inside the bag.
I use that trick on many customers of mine who think they don't have anything in their paint and think they clayed enough or don't need to clay at all. One swipe with that bag and they will realize really quickly how good or bad of shape its in.

I should post some pics of my car after the 2 day detailing session I gave her (had things that split up my time). I hope you used a fine polishing compound and sealant afterwards

i work at car wash as a sales service advisor and it recommended to buff the car after because when you clay your car it does scratch the paint. very lightly but buffing it with compund takes it all out.
