Thumbs up Who wants a supercharger for the SC400?

Okay lets take a poll to see how many really are interested in a supercharger being available for their SC400.

Ya know, I'd love turbo... especially over a supercharger, but...

I emailed mechtech and asked them how much to do a turbo install on the 400. 17,000$ and they have to keep the car for 90 days. 17k for 4-6 psi.

I talked with a local guy today and he was asking around for turbo on his SC4. He went to a local shop and they told him about 20k... plus, they've never worked with a SC4 before.

I think there was a thread that talked about the cost, it was something like 7-8k for the parts (which i believe was retail). The turbo would have to be mounted similiar to how they are in a corvette (what i've been told).

If someone was willing, i would guineau pig my car for a possible turbo install (as i'm sure a lot of other people would)

Gang,

Face it, the SC4 Supercharger will never happen. If you want a fast car....buy the IS and bolt on the turbo. Its the current model and interest is sky high.

There just are not many pristine SC400s left. Let alone owners who want to drop 10k in for a SC kit. Dont get me wrong...I love my 92SC4 and its in absolute mint condition....but its the cruiser. If I want to go fast....out rolls my HKS Stage 7+ 87Supra with 500hp...or my daily driver 88 Alltrac turbo at 15psi/300hp fun in the snow rocket car.

Reading that Lexus is making the IS300 in AWD.....that will be my next project car. Oh my.... that car will stirr up some trouble.

Nick, I spoke w/ Jim McFarland, he told me $15,000, and about 350hp. Thanks, but I gotta bend over for the gov't in April, once is enough. No offense Jim. I'd have to concur with ToyLexmods, i'm giving up on the SC4, that stroker kit never happened either, and this thing feels so slow to me I think i'm gonna put my foot through the floorpan sometimes. Turbo IS3 or SC3 or GS3, and happy happy joy joy. ToyLexmods, had a friend with a newer style Alltrac twin turbo worked b@lls-to-the-walls (very rare car to begin with, i'm told, unless you go to Europe for a Celica4). That thing scooooted, ripped apart a friend's 911 3.6litre. Hey, do you remember Supra Dave Arbitol?

Single Turbo! Don't wait for a turbo kit to come out, do it yourself. Do your homework, buy a welder and Corky bells "Maximum Boost" and your on the right path.

Wondered what happened to you SC400Turbo. Need some updates on your progress badly, i've basically lost faith in the potential of the 1UZ, since no one seems to be doing anything with it. Please tell me you have good news.
