life or death for my sc, opinions?
So my poor 92 sc400 had a run in with an F150 today
The dumbass failed to stop for the red light i was stopped at, and smashed up the back end of my baby pretty bad..
Insurance company took a look, (as i'm in hawaii, and labour rates are kinda high) and they're leaning towards writing the car off, instead of repairing it.
The tail lights, back bumper, trunk, and trunk brackets (arms?) all need to be replaced, and the metal framing behind the tail lights is pushed in about 3 inches at the worst spot. quarter panels and the frame appear to be straight, but i won't find out for a day or two.
Do i get it fixed, or try desperately to find another straight body'd, clean title'd SC in the state with the world's worst drivers?

sux to hear man. keep in mind that the rear of your car didnt just take the hit.... the whole car is affected.... there may be other areas that were tweaked or weakened from the total impact so i'd also advise looking for another straight clean car. sorry for the loss...
sue the guy that hit you for enough to buy a nicer one and make it better then the one you had!

Pics will be up when i get it back from the shop... they're taking the back end apart to get a better look at the damage underneath all the plastic..
The quarter panels seem (at least visually) to be straight.. the trunk lid lines up side to side, and the back glass didn't break.
The guy was doing about 25-30mph when he hit me, he wasn't paying attention, and thus there are no skidmarks to measure his speed.. I looked in my mirror just in time to read 'FORD' (and think: "oh *****!")
The truck that hit me was rolling on 24's so his bumper hit right at tail light level, above the bumper itself.. which may heve lessened (prevented?) major frame damage.
I stopped by 4 different shops, 2 said it'd probably be totalled, the other 2 (including the shop recommended by the local lexus dealership) said it might be fixable.
The insurance company is sending their guy to have a look today.
Grrr... why is it that all 3 accidents i've been in have involved me being hit by a truck? first a dodge, then a chevy, and now a ford.
If my car does get fixed, i'm installing a roll cage and getting the whole body sprayed with rhyno-liner.. She'll be damn near bullet proof!

Sorry to hear about the wreck. Since it was a rear end the other party is automatically at fault so you should be able to get enough money out of the deal for another SC or get yours fixed up. I don't know how common the SC is on the islands though. It may be tough to find another one. Good luck on whatever you decide!
