Default Question: Manually locking the door

I just fixed the door not opening from the outside, but able to on the inside problem. The $2.40 plastic clip was indeed broken. However, I noticed something strange, that I thought worked differently before my fix.

When you lock the doors from the outside with the remote. Then you manually unlock it from the outside with your key, does it unlock both doors? I thought it did before, and now when I do it, only the driver side door manually unlocks. Now when the doors are closed, and the doors start off unlocked, if I manually lock it with the keys, both doors become locked. I thought it worked the reverse also. So I was wondering if I did some damage while doing my repair?!?!?

On my car when you manually unlock the driver's door, just the driver's door unlocks with the first turn, but if you turn the key twice, it unlocks both doors.

hmm...I used to just turn the key to unlock and just hold it there for a sec, both doors unlock...believe this works on either side too

My car is a '95 SC400. This morning I just tried it on the other side. Both doors were unlocked, and I went to the passenger side, manually unlocked the passenger door, and the driver side unlocked as well. I thought it would work the same on the driver side. Seems weird that if the passenger side key turn would do both doors, but the driver side key turn would only unlock one?

I haven't tried the holding the key or unlocking it twice yet.

Mine is a 92, if you unlock from the passenger side, it will unlock both doors. However on the driver side, in order to unlock both doors you have to turn the key twice in the unlock direction
