Default New to sc300 and club lexus

Hey everyone my names john and i am currently switching from nissan to lexus. i am currently selling my 1993 nissan 240sx and buying a 1993 lexus sc300. i have had 3 nissan 240sx and i sort of want to get out of the drift scene, but i still love rwd and i have always wanted a sc300 b.c of the 2jz.

i have a few question for you sc owners. the 1993 sc300 i found has 200k miles and that scares me alot. i test drove it yesterday pulled good and drove nicely no suspention clunks most of the gauge lights work beside 3k-4k rpm but thats no biggie. the guy selling it doesnt really have alot of time to show it so its going to be hard to take it to a shop and get it in the air and check it out. is there anything i should look out for, only thing i noticed was when i started from a stop and gunned it seemed like something was rattleing at the start then stoped. its a 15 year old car so i know theres going to be faults but i just want to look out for the ones that will cost a shat ton in the future like the high miles on the engine. any imput would be great thanks!

Haha, so did I, from a 95 S14 to a 92 SC3 auto, to a 92 SC3 5spd.

Welcome to CL!!

Your engine, believe it or not, has alot of life left in it if you take care of it. I would say make sure the frame rails are good, check the subframe. SC's are known for having bad rear stock suspensions, so I'd check that out. Other than that, there's not many red flags that I can think of.

thanks guys i will be sure to get it in the air and check the subframe, rear sus,and frame rails. what should i look for in the frame rails, my 240sx has alot of damage on the frame rail from being like 2-3 inches off the ground.

Im not sure how much help I'm going to be seeing how I to am new and asked pretty much the same question and I still own a 240sx and Tiburon I just purchased a 97 sc300 with 170K on it for $4200 and it is awesome. The only reason I bought it with so many miles is because he had all the services recorded with slips and checking the vin it came back with a score of 95 out of 100. The only issue is the it needs some paint, but so far other than that its awesome (knock on a big piece of wood). I would say go for it, the price sounds good. What kind of shape is it in?
