Default Japanese vs. European Gas Pedal Styles..

You know, I kind of like the gas pedal in European cars. They feel more comfortable, and less tiring to me. What are those pedals called? They look sort of like bus pedals, where it hooks on to the ground; I believe. And our Japanese Lexus' have the pedal hooked on top. Is it also true that some older LS400's have this type of pedal too? If so, is it possible to assemble one onto the SC? Check out the picture below of the M3. I want my gas pedal like that one.

Actually, I think all LS400's+ have this type of European gas pedal. I just found this picture on Ebay:

I'm sure there's a way of doing this. It'll interesting if there's an SC owner with this.

waste of money and time. thats why they invented cruise control so your foot doesnt get tired.

personally i hate the "european" gas pedal. whenever i would drive my bosses 911 turbo i f-ing hated it. the cars was scary ***** fast but the pedal was less comfortable.

Really? I love the feel of those pedals. And most sporty cars have this type of pedal too; I believe. I remember sitting in this tiny lil. race car one time, and the seat was very low so that my legs were kept straight. It had those pedals on, and it was so comfortable. Would it really cost that much to customize the pedal? I mean, I wouldn't mind using the existing pedal, and just applying this euro pedal over it. Just a thought.

The past couple weeks Ive done a good bit of driving in both my SC300 and an LS430. I spent a good 20 hours in the SC between two days and another 11 or so in the LS over a couple days and I must say that the SC's pedal was way more comfortable on the road. The LS has the plush ride, but without cruise control my foot was getting very stiff just a couple hours into the trip. I thought this was unusual because I was totally comfortable in the SC just days prior. Just my 2 cents.

I doubt that's the case. Most 01+ Lexus have drive by wire setup while still retaining the traditional pedal style.

then get one of those pedals and attach it to the floor in front of the stock gas pedal and put a little wheel or something in the stock one so pushing the new pedal causes the stock one to be pushed down. thats how i think you could have that kind of pedal without major modification.

If I can recall, I remember looking under an old ls400 a few years back, and remember seeing that the "euro" look-a-like pedal is actually attached to the regular pedal via an assembly. Therefore, I'm pretty sure it's not just because of the electric TB's. And also, do some ls400's really have no cruise control just because of the "euro" style gas pedal? That's dumb. I would expect all LS's to have cruise control. Afterall, it is built primarily for comfort.

it wont be that hard to do if you took your time and did it yourself. it WILL be expensive if someone else will do it for you. its still not worth it.
