Hey. I have one crazy story. Today driving home from getting my headunit installed, my uncle an I were driving on the turnpike during a thunderstorm. He was driving my car when all of a sudden we hear an explosion. I ask that wasnt a tire was it? He said it wasnt. I then thought maybe it was a bad wiring to the speakers. They didnt sound bad... About ten minutes later I happen to look back and realize ****! My windshield is broken. Its not broken out, its just cracked into a million pieces my tint is holding it together. Now for all you scientists... The exterior glass looks in perfect condition. Its cracked from the inside and one small piece of glass is kinda brownish yellow color. Do you think it was hail, or my guess a friggin lightning strike? Please weigh in guys

 

Wow. This sounds pretty interesting. How about some pictures to give us a better idea of what were working with. Another thing, you said you looked back and saw your windshield. Would this happen to be the rear windshield? I have heard stories about these spontaneously cracking. Anyway cant wait for the pics!

 

When sorry didnt mention it was the rear. Pics will be up sometime tomorrow. Still kinda bad weather.

Might have been some combo of superheated glass and rapid cooling. Not sure how that could have happened though. Pics plz

 

was your rear defroster on?

I've heard stories of the SC's rear windshield randomly, like, exploding when the defroster is on. I'm pretty sure I saw it on CL a while ago...

 

Yeah my defroster was on. Just tried to get pics but its took dark now, so tomorrow it shall be.
