It means nothing. When they started up the Lexus line , Toyota chose to follow the "Letter-Letter-Displacement code" nomenclature started by Acura's alphanumeric names (hated by many at the time it started up) .
Interesting article about this phenomenon . I love the line "Remember when cars had names?"
The only thing worth knowing (until someone can quote/reference a Toyota executive explaining otherwise) is:
Altezza = IS
Windom = ES
Aristo = GS
Celsior = LS
Soarer = SC
Harrier = RX
Land Cruiser Prado = GX
Land Cruiser Cygnus = LX
