hello to everyone here i have been browsing around with out an intro and now in need of help deciding...

I have been trying to purchase an sc 300 for some time now and have not been lucky, either some one else picks it before i do or car is junk.

I have two potential pickups right now but i dont know what would be the best and wisest choice.

holy crap those both sound like...well yeah...

but i would take the 2nd one, get coils, and then swap out the engine if it's not running strong.

      Peace out

Wow. On the 98, if the owner did not take care of the body then the motor will most likely have been neglected as well. The 92 is going to be a huge fixer upper. But in the long run you'd probably end up spending less on the 98 just to get it up to par with a stock 98.

that '92 is no where near worth $2,400

      try more like $1,200

92 with close to 300k miles beat up interior, cut springs, and still $2400 = no deal even if it's a 5spd. you can do better, just be patient.

mint interior you said for the 98? that means it's been taken care of and just been in a bad spill (RECENTLY) and owner doesnt want to fix it because he'd rather have a perfect no damage vehicle. If you have a body shop or work in one or have a friend who's a body tech then it can work out for you. If none of the above, stay away from damaged sc's as they are very expensive to repair and damages to the rear quarter panel are hard to do unless you're ok driving a car loaded with tons of bondo.

IMHO, neither of them seem like a god car to start with. If I had to pick one though it would be the 1998 car. Get a real quote from a body shop on what it would cost to repair the car to like-new condition (versus what you can get it fixed for). 1/4 panel body damage is a lot of money to fix, and this one needs work on bth. That estimate could be a bargaining chip.

I would need to see pictures for a final determination bbut from what i have heard the 92 and do an engine swap and work on the suspintion- sounds like the cheaper answer for a better SC in the long run

$1500 aint gonna cover replacing both quarter panels and fenders. Talk the guy down to $3500 or less and it might be worth it, depending on how good the rest of the car is. And the 92 I wouldn't pay more than $1500 for considering how much it needs.

If you're planning on a swap get the 92 it will be easier with obd1 to deal with smog etc.
