You should have a shop check that out and see if its straight before you do anything. I guess you could even just sell the parts if its not.

oh dang.... i dont know if i would.
sure its a good price, but you really dont know how much more you need to pay for a repaint of the new door, fender that might not match in color....
You look like you might have to put down at least about 3 grand with sometime to wait for it to be done while you can pick up a used one in way better condition for about 4-5.
I saw one for sale around where i live for 4500, everything looked fine, except for that flipdown cub holder and minor seat cracks.

Hmmm...First off your not only dealing with the cosmetic here you also have to take into account the maintenance and mechanical pieces at that mileage and likely no records.

So from a cosmetic side you'll need a new fender door and bumper. Then a repaint...well if thats DWP color that it looks like its a fairly expensive paint process from what I been told plus its difficult to blend well unless a good shop is doing it.

Figure on parts (without paint) at approximately:
Door: $200
Fender: $100
Bumper covr: $80
Seat covrs: $200-400
Miscellaneous: normal maintenance and wear items (tuneup, lower control arms, tranny mounts, engine mounts, hvac unit display, needles etc) 90k at dealer is bout $1200 (could be done for less of course) and that doesnt include parts and labor for control arms, mounts etc (look at known issues on this car in this forum and add those up)

Labor: maybe $300 - 500 - to install parts, reassemble new door and align door (labor to reinstall parts or on door could be more if hinges bent or "hidden" damages are found or parts needed)

Paint/prep/blending: this is a wild **** guess maybe $1000 - 1500 (course if you want guess Maaco is an option but...)

Disclaimer: now this is just the visible damage and BEST CASE scenario not sure what you'll find after you start tearing it apart or live with it a while since you dont have any records I presume.

Add these up and make a decision...mine would be to walk away if it were me. Personally, I dont think the juice is worth the squeeze!

Default rebuild

if the car has a clear title and the ins co didnt total it then you can rebuild and get your money back out of it . i bought my 92 with salvage title and rebuilt it . the only damage was fire in rear seat window area but after replacing the interior and having wheels and paint work i only have 2000.00 in my car . if you know someone who owns a body shop the paint/body work might not be as bad as you think id take the pics to them and get rough est. good luck thsese cars are sweet

I talked with a guy today that has done work on some of my other cars(mr2, mazdaspeed 6 with that crazy gray thats hard to match i was told) he told me the door can be salvaged and body wise he could fix everything for $550. paint and all. the motor looked as close to perfect as it can get. when i fired up the motor it revs very smooth and didnt hear and knocks or rattles. it also looked to have new plugs and wires. let me know what you think.

Its your decision man. If you trust the guy and your gut then go for it. I seriously question $550 for all that work, parts and labor. I'd like to see the finished product when your done. Especially how he's gonna "salvage" that door. Maybe with some cuttin and welding but thats not the way I would do it, just my personal choice.

Also, looking at a motor will not help. I'd suggest gettin a preinspection done of the motor from a mechanic. I'd also believe that alot of the maintenace hasnt been done that is required at this age and mileage. Look through the "known issues" here and have a mechanic check those items out. Bring the vin to a LExus dealer they can pull up vehicle histort for any work done at Lexus. Could make a decision easier as well.

Have you gotten under the car and checked for damage or pulled Carfax?

$1000 and you havn't got it yet?

As long as the door pillar where the door hinge bolts on is good.?

Just get a door, fender and maybe a front bumper. As many white SC's are out there you can find the parts in the rite color and just bolt them on.

Don't fix that door. If you want a bondo buggy buy a Camaro or some other Generic Motors.

Before I picked up my SC400 a couple of weeks ago I used to look on Craigslist. I saw that SC advertised on Craigslist for quite awhile. Don't know how much you have to spend, but go to cars.com and autotrader.com to see who else has an SC for sale. You can see some other SC's. Be patient, there is always somebody selling an SC in the PHX area...
