in my area 97+ is a rare sight even to see it being driven around but at one point i thought about selling my 92 hardtop 5 spd for a 97 but realized i'd loose the reason why i got my car for the 5psd and hardtop so i gave up that idea

while he says its not worth it (which opinions make think otherwise) im pretty confident he told me the supra tt shocks/springs were going to make much difference either (in height) and it actually dropped my car an inch 1/2 sooo?

The only reason to get a 97 is the RSP paint color. If I had it all to do over again, I probably would not have bought my 97 if it hadn't been a RSP. The only up side of the 97 is the good looks of the 97-00 body, while still being able to mod the 1uzfe (VVTi motors having almost no aftermarket). If I were just going to daily drive it, I tottaly would have rather had a 98+ with the VVTi motor, numericaly lower rear end for hwy crusing, and COP igniton.

If you have a 92-96 SC like me, I think conversion is not so worth it anymore in MOST cases. First, 97 and up SC's have become cheaper lately, if you add up all the parts you have to get to convert and factor in the shipping and cost to paint and install, it comes out to just a little too much than just buying a 97 and up SC. I know because I have all the parts in my basement ready to get slapped on the car. As I was doing the math and seeing how much 97+ SCs are going for these days, it made me realize I'm better off selling my 93 and just buying a 97. Am I the only one thinking about this or are there others thinking the same way? Take note i didn't say it's not worth it in EVERY case (92-96 5-spds with gte in them already are of course out of the equation, turboed 400s, etc...) I'm saying for cases of a recently bought stock 92-96 non-5spd thinking of going 97+ conversion route. Surely I'm still putting on the parts I collected for the conversion because I have it already but this puts it out there for those who do not have an SC yet and are thinking of buying a 92-96 and then going for the conversion later on. anyone agree with some of what i said?
Ive Pm'd u with a list of stuff ive done to my sc and still cheaper than to buy a 97 out right.patients is the key.a 97 sc that goes for cheap is usually a p.o.s
all jacked up or rebuild title.

I couldn't find a 97 at the time I was getting my car. I found ONE five speed in my area and i needed a car for school came up on a 93 5 speed. I put a 97 front bumper when I repsrayed the car. I'm glad i did it. Now I'm gonna save up for a AC kit I hope..

In my opinion, the 97+ SCs are totally worth the extra money even if only for the updated instrument panel. It looks 10 million times better than the previous ones, even if the previous ones have been modified with the different colors and such. The backlighting on the old ones is yellow-ish no matter what you do - the 97+ ones is a very nice white. Oh... And that sexy body is a plus, too.

It's totally worth it if you look at certain factors. For instance, I have a 93 5Spd in 8J5 midnight indigo pearl. A rare color. I love this color but I plan on getting a Vertex front lip. The only one that looks good IMHO is the 97+ year lip. So that is my instance when it is worth it.

not worth it to me, i like the ones from 92-96, i own two of them, and don't like the 97 as much. I personally don't see why people think its thats great of a thing, its just a body kit that makes you look stock, isn't that the opposite of what a body kit is supposed to do?
