Ok all...I am getting myself confused. I thought I understood the definition of these words but I am gettin confused when buying parts, (I know JDM = Japanese Domestic Market, OEM = original equipment manufacturer) I dont need that. Can someone give me a cliff notes version on the "real meaning" for these terms? For example if I am looking to buy a used headlight or any part and it says JDM Genuine OEM isnt that incorrect? Are there different dimensions between JDM and OEM and Authentic? Is authentic considered buying from the dealer or sourced from another car? If its new in box and has Toyota stickers on it is that OEM?

Sorry if this was discussed somewhere I looked and found a poll if people would prefer OEM VS JDM vs Authentic but not a primer for what the terms all mean in laymans words. I know I should know this by now but the more I try to understand the more confused I get. I dont want to order a part that ends up not being US compliant.

JDM = Japan
USDM = America
Authentic can simply mean its a genuine part from a specific manufacturer, IE Junction Produce, Toyota etc.
OEM goes BOTH ways. JDM doesnt mean its aftermarket.
