I placed a large flat blade screwdriver against the rear of the handle and hit it with a hammer a few times, and knocked the handle off the end. You will find that the handle is glued on.

I had one of those. You will find that you wont be able to get it all the way over the metal of the handle. Your button to release the brake will be recessed. Its still works, but you will have to stick your finger in to release the brake. Unless you make some kind of extension.

Product sc thats the kind I have
I had to cut 2" off the hand brake in order for the cover to reach far back enough for the leather boot to cover the back end. and like Gadget said the button was extended .
