Default Please guide me to an engine fuse...

I got the stanza fans and started to wire them. but when i got to the fuse box, i found out that they are all powered when the engine is off. Every single fuse had power with the keys out of the ignition!!!! I'm trying to avoid tapping in any wires, So does anybody know of an engine bay fuse that's only hot when the engine is on?

easist way would be to get a test light and turn the key on and test for wires with power

I hope you're not trying to wire in fans without a dedicated 12v and relay...

It's slightly more in depth than that but that is kind of the general idea.

He is. Now he will say that he wont though. Anyway madmax, you need to get a dedicated relay for each fan that you plan to run, fuses are a good idea for each relay also. Might want to do some more research before you get any farther into this project...

I was planning on running them straight from a fuse, i also have a fan controller to control the temp at which the fans come on. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to technical electrical work, so if you guys could shed some light on why i need a relay and such, thnx.. In the meantime, i'll try to find out more about this..

it more preferable to run the fans at all times while the engine is on as most electric fans are not as efficent as the factory fan is, also always on will help the car not get heatsoaked as fast....

Thnx 2JZLEX, you're the man. Question: It may sound stupid but are the fans supposed to push air towards the engine or towards the radiator? I got a little confused here, right now they are setup to blow towards the engine....

Thnx LexusFTW and Cbrasion. I plan on running the fans continously once the engine warms up, i wish there was a way to switch between low and high settings

They are more efficient when air is pulled through the radiator. However it's pretty common to have one push one pull on either side of the radiator. Or two pull and one push, w/e.

I think i'm going to leave them blowing towards the engine and see how that goes, it should get the engine cooler since more air is pushing the headers heat out.. I thought about the dual stage idea and found a couple of expensive dual controllers. But since i already have a single controller, I'm going to get another one and wire it to the higher setting wires and adjust the temp accordingly so one will control the lower setting and the other will control the higher setting, and both cost about 40 bucks...

if it pushes air to the front of the car thas useless are you trying to slow the air down? plus when your on the freeway you wold stress the **** out of the fan.. and are you using a relay? you better not have the fan straight up wired to a power source.

That was my thinking too about the direction of air. I had to initially wire str8 from a fuse then i found out that all of the fuses in the engine bay are powered all the time so now i have a relay. i tapped the activation wire into the igniter wire < 98 sc300 > annd it works like a charm now. I plan on setting up the wiring so i have 2 settings since i already have 2 probes...
