IMO, the Supra is about the only Toyota that offers things that the Lexus counterpart does not. As I said earlier in the thread, to turn an SC into a car that many people really admire, you gotta load it up with Supra hardware.

I think the difference in resale is astonishing. I'm guessing that it something like this: you bought a new 1994 6-speed MKIV TT for $42,000, today you can sell it for $25,000.

If you bought a new SC300 or SC400 for ~$43,000-$46,000 then, today you'd be very lucky to get $5000

In 2000, you could buy the MKIV TT for ~30k, the SC300 SC400 were ~17-20k

Duh. I want one of each. Why choose?
If you own either of these cars you're not likely the original owner (we've polled that before) and there's a good chance you're an enthusiast.
Enthusiasts tend to purchase as many of the cars they love as possible.
Save up. Get both.
Then laugh about how this topic's distracted from the comparison/contrast of two, similar, parts-sharing models, into a ridiculous branding debate.

-SC owners put Supra motors in their cars.
-SC owners would generally own a Supra if they could.
-Supra owners don't drop SC motors in their cars.
-Supra owners don't wish they owned an SC generally.
-You ask a Supra owner, of course they pick a Supra, and vice versa, generally.
-There are a few SC's that look good, and are built well, but the majority of Supra's are built well and look even better.

A motor is a motor, just because it comes to america doesn't mean they claim it as a Lexus motor... it's still toyota. PARTS are different because some parts only work for their designated car, still TOYOTA but specified for vehicles to avoid confusion when searching ... but I haven't ran across any motors made by Lexus....
True that... What are you guys all talking about THEIR ALL YOTA'S please people lets not twist and turn the facts inside out or which ever way ya look at it.it's called an Aristo in Japan and a GS300 in US of A a (Lexus). The two or the same!! Because of marketing they decided to sale a refine vision of the beast in Japan .So that our mom's and daddy's would spend the extra money for a Toyota..

I' guess what I'm saying is all Supra's run Aristo engines no matter how you slice it.So being an Aristo is the same thing as a GS300 Lexus I think you all get the picture..lol

here is a little article I pulled from Wikipedia

The 2JZ-GTE originally powered the Toyota Aristo V (JZS147) in 1991 before becoming Toyota's flagship performance engine in the Toyota Supra RZ (JZA80) in the following year. Its mechanical basis was the existing 2JZ-GE

I love this part the best

The 2JZ-GTE originally powered the Toyota Aristo V (JZS147) in 1991 before becoming Toyota's flagship performance engine in the Toyota Supra RZ

Ha ha VVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV Oh yeah SC's rule. . lol

Ok, so your saying Lexus but the statement above clearly says Aristo which is made by who?? Toyota. To me there is no difference. Once again they are both well built "Toyota's", if it makes you feel better to say Lexus....
Then you go ahead and do that.

Like I stated before I own both and they each have great characterists. I feel out of the two the Supra is my preference. I think mainly because they are becoming more rare as we speak.

Since your a definition guy I found one for Supra which I think is fitting.

Supra- prefix repr. L. suprā adv. and prep., above, beyond, in addition (to), before the time of, in comps. parallel to those of super.
