You mean a SC4 set a record:eek: Not a SC4:eek: With turbos?! Noooooooooo... A Lexus SC4? are you sure it was not another model?! Like a Turbo SC3 or TT Supra? Interesting, very interesting...............

Importtoy, have any pics or video clips of this car? That's a hell of a car to run those numbers with the susp. not fully tuned. I wonder how much was put into the turbo kit? Impressive...

Oh we never said it was impossible. Just very improbable. PHR's car with a pro-import pro-chassis would prolly run 6s

Its got a ways to go to keep up with the HKS Skyline and Supra (also happens to be 1uz powered)
And Siguel is unofficially in the 6s... I think we'll see him make it official this racing season.

Yup, SC4oo It was at the IDRC finals.

There will be lots of magazine coverage on it soon i guess.
Blast Racing has been killing the comp in Japan for years.They jus arent a big name with lots of sponsors yet.
I posted a picture of their car a while back here on the boards.

He lost in the finals because of his reaction time to Adam S.

Found the info.

4th Annual Nitto Tires International Finals Presented by Toyota

LACR, Palmdale, CA
December 1-2, 2001

Event Briefs:
Race Cars: 376
Spectators: 8216
(below projections due to weather forecasts)

Complete Race Results

The 2001 Nitto Tires IDRC International Finals Presented By Toyota delivered on its promise of the most exciting race of the year. Hoyos, Papadakis, Rau, Kelley and Shepherd claimed the 2001 IDRC Championships in the Toyo Tire Pro, Apex Integration Outlaw, Nitto Tires Quick, Importdrag.com All-Motor and APC Street Class, respectively.

Weekend rain forecasts kept much of the crowd away, but the forecasts proved to be wrong. The weather was great and records were set in nearly all of the classes and the racing action was second to none.

The Blast Racing SC400 with Tatatoshi Wakita (Japan) at the controls set a new IDRC import world record with a 7.38-second blast at 184mph. Fellow countryman Hiro Shiobara took the Escort Racing 300ZX to the winner¹s circle in the Pro Class. Adam Saruwatari made it to the finals and also ran a personal best 7.957 at 177mph in his Nitto Tires/A&L Racing NSX.

In the Outlaw class, Stephan Papadakis defeated Ray Lochhead after Ray got Past Carlos Montano in the semifinals. Carlos red-lit by rolling completely past the starting line while attempting to stage. Seven qualifiers in the Quick 16 ran in the 9s. Jojo Callos set the IDRC record for quickest elapsed time in the Quick class at LACR with a blistering 9.18-second flash. Jojo defeated Brent Rau in the finals, but it was still enough points to allow Brent to win his first IDRC championship.

In the All-Motor class, Scott Kelley needed a miracle to get the points to pass up Scott Mohler. In order for Kelley to win, Mohler would have to go out two rounds before Kelley. Mohler left the door open when he lost in the Quarterfinals when his racecar broke. This put Kelley in a must win position. Kelley defeated Valdivia, Aguilar and Escamilla to face arch-rival Bisi Ezerioha in the finals. When the lights turned green, reaction times were identical and it was a race to the finish. Kelley got their first and became the first-ever IDRC All-Motor Champion.

In the Street class, John Shepherd came out to put an exclamation point on his already claimed IDRC Street Class championship. He did so with eighth victory in just eight IDRC appearance, earning John the title of the IDRC¹s most-dominant driver of 2001.

There's a small article on that event in the newest Import Tuner magazine. It has a short excerpt in it on the twin turbo Blast Racing SC400. It also said that that car as been dominating drag for the past 10 years in Japan.

<insert sarcasm>

I'm sure he could have hit the 6's if he was running the 2JZ-
Ya' know, its a better motor- Lighter-bulletproof-it's what everyone else is running.

<snicker>

Sorry, had to say it! I forsee this debate coming back. Next thing you know, people will be asking if they sell that TT kit for the 1UZ. Well, I'm not playing both sides of the field, just joking about the topic. Maybe my humor is a little dry, but I'm bored.

sorry but 7.38 isn't a record its prolly a record for a japanese V8... and its DAMN fast...

but its not a record... there are quite a few rotary powered cars in that range... not to mention 4cylinder Starlets near that too

my whole point is, if its THAT much bigger of a motor; then why is it ONLY in the low 7s hmm?

I was under the assumption that the time record was for the 1UZ, not just in general.

Marcus, beat you to the punch on that one, I posted that time weeks ago, from someone who was there. OK, not to get this debate started again, but the car runs hard, and has more potential, don't hate the player, hate the game. That TT kit will nevvver be available to any of us, Marcus, stop pitching a circus tent. There is so much fabrication on that 1UZ car that it bears no resemblance to our cars whatsoever, much as I would like it to. That chassis was put together long ago by Willie Relles Sr, well known for his work on tube-frame cars, it was all set up over here, and shipped to the land of the rising sun for the drivetrain. I have some pics of the setup somewhere, if I find them i'll post 'em. A fast streetable SC4 is still a bleak reality, but Todd Matsubura is working hard to remedy that, 4.0TT unibody car, ya heard? Oh, and a 4.7 tube frame car just to make sure the V8 camp is represented. It's that murderous *****.

Its faster than any SC 300 I've seen. Always hating on the SC 400 don't you? If you wanted a SC 400 you should have bought one. don't just talk about it. we all have Lexus here so why don't YOU SHUT YOU HOLE about the SC 400! It was a good record for Japan's v8.
