body work

Did the body shop say how they were going to fix this? Are they replacing parts, or are they doing a cut job...with some sheet metal molding, etc?
Either way, I think 1500 is about right...If this includes work, paint, most of the time, we see only the small dents-and not necessarily the work that goes into it. You're most likely paying more for the labor? Wish you luck with that, let us know how it turns out.

I think you should give it a shot your self.
Take apart the interior pieces(carpet moldings) of the trunk and you'll see how easily you can access that quarter panel. you might be able to pop it back out with a hammer. Youtube some body working videos. I did something like this with my old huge 88 suburban, while off roading I slid side ways into a tree. I hammered it out filled it, sanded, and painted you couldn't tell.
Theres a vertical bracket holding the bumper to the body if you take off the 3 bolts your rear bumper might go back to it's original shape. if not work it with back with a heat gun. My car got hit in a parking lot and I popped out my front bumper like that you couldn't tell. Only my paint didn't flake.
Do it your self you'll feel like more of a badass knowing you did it!
I'm installing a body kit I can send you pictures if you want to understand better, my car is completely taken apart.
Good Luck!
