I'd like to have it just to have it I know TRAC doesn't do much but my shifter wouldn't feel so empty

i got trac on my 92 and i love it, around where i live there are lots of exits where i need to accelerate fast out of a big turn, and with trac off, when i turn and accelerate fast i spin the tires, so it saves me some money and potential tickets

maybe you need to learn how to drive. if you are smooth and dont "throw" the car into turns you can go fast without track or any of that non-sense. unless you are drifting, "flicking" a car into a turn is not a right way to go fast. you should be accelerating in the turn either. accelerate out of the turn and get an LSD

where do you live that you have a lot of "exits" around you and "need" to go through turns fast. lol.

I've been considering removing the TRAC throttle plate on my car. This in theory would still let the system control traction via the rear brakes.

Would be good for the drag strip. Some automatic control over tire spin without killing all the engines power.

So the TRAC button was only an option for the SC?

I know my '95 had one and when I got my '97, I was wondering where that button went...

From the 1999 Review of the car:

The only options we added to our test vehicle were all-season tires, remote 12-disc CD changer, traction control system, carpeted trunk mat and wheel locks.

If your still not sure look under your hood...there will be a plastic cover on passeneger side almost up against the firewall thats says TRAC.

I believe that the button you are referring to adjust the ratio in the tranny to slow the revolutions or maybe I have that confused with another car.

People in warmer or more mild climates did not order the car with this as they determined it was not necessary. The button will look like this on your center console:

My 1997 SC300 Auto has it. I'm doing a manual swap, I wonder where I'm gonna mount the trac button.

both sc3 and sc4 came with trac. some of the both didnt come with it though. my sc is originally from cali from what i was able to figure out. at least according to the owners manual records and original business card of the first sales man. my car doesnt have trac but then again its also a 5sp.

some sc400 dont have trac either. more in the early ones.
