I agree 1000% DRFT103, I have 235's on 9.5's all around and when these wear out, i'm going 225's.

255/35/18 on a 11.5 here...... But it is a federal which don't stretch like others..... I also rock 215/40/18 on the 9s.....

there is nothing wrong with a 285 on a 9.5. i would personally stick with a 265 or so.
