Talking New VIP style hood, your input please...

We took the hood off of my SC300 and dropped it off at the body shop...

The idea is to make an SC300 functional, VIP, clean and subtle hood...

The prototype will be made from scratch and based off these pictures of the Tom's hood for the SC430...

What do you think?

nah too many busy lines for the subtle SC...but I like the idea of vents on the top of hood...kind of like Benz

if the vent part is very subtle and dosent change the shape characteristics (like sticking out upward) then it will look very good and i would definatly pic one of these up my self .... GL

GREAT! i've been waiting for a hood like this!!

i'd prefer it with just the front vent, but the rear vent will help drop underhood temps a bit more...

i'd say if you can make it to where we can keep the vents open and uncovered at all times, with no water damage.. and keep it clean with good fitment... i'll be the first to buy one! then paint it black to match my car of course.

on second thought... i like the second vent idea... as long as it flows with the shape of the car good. i'm all about lower hood temps.

I am pretty curious as to what the final product will look like, I think it'll look pretty good if you don't go overboard with the the size of the vents.

Looks like it should turn out pretty nice as long as its a subtle design!

Would the rear vent even work in this design??? I thought the windshield creates a bubble of air infront that the rear vent would actually suck air back in instead of venting out???

very nice..hope it turns out good, a lot of the turbo guys down here in FL are always complaining about the heating issue. So this could be their solution..

I like the CF version. Looks much better than the CF OEM style.

For this I think it would be beneficial because I know BN Sports and DMAX often vent their hoods at that area. Also most Mercedes models, the E46 M3 and 8-series have vents in the same area so I think it's safe.

if it sucked air back... wouldn't that be even more cooling?

it would go either two ways, heated air being released, or colder air coming in.
