The 1998 VVTi engine is stronger then the previous years. Could you imagine with a high stall converter? I have a 1995 SC400 with a 1997 body kit. It will be heading to the paint shop in few weeks for the 1998 Supra Quicksilver. I ordered the stroker parts for it too. So I will be running a 5.2L VVTi. NA for now.. but thinking either supercharger or single turbo. If I would do it again, I would save up and get a 1998 instead of 1995.

I got a really good deal on a VVTi (1999 or something like that) and I also found a VVTi Tundra shortblock (2004 to 2006) so I am doing stroker on it and install the whole in my 1995 SC400. The stroker is being made as we speak and custom forged pistons with ceramic coating was ordered. 10:1 compression.

Just an update:
Picked up a black on tan 98 SC400 with 89xxx on the ODO yesterday. The car is AMAZING, it will take some used to driving it slow on the highwy (was doing 90 and didn't realize it)
The pickup especially with the ECTPWR switched on is phenomenal, never had a car so QUICK! Glad to finally land a good one

I'll take pics when I get it back...its getting serviced. The guys are the Lexus service swarmed it like it was a Drophead Coupe, I'm guessing they either never get 1st GEN SCs or let alone one as nice as mine!
I did trade some paint with a Camry in a parking lot 2nd day owning it, the mfer parked so close to me and I wasn't paying attention. Scrapped front bumper pretty bad. Lexus quoted me $500
for repainting the whole thing, gonna try to get it buffed by a few scratches are deep
