Would regular gloss black Dupli-Color spraypaint at my local Kragen's work, or should I purchase something off the internet? Any recommendations? Trying to look for a cheaper alternative to the Tamiya PS-31 ($12 shipped for a 3 oz. can).

Thanks in advance. I've been wanting to paint my badges for over a month now, and am excited to finally start this weekend!

High Heat Engine Paint (Gloss Black)....and you can find it at like autozone or pep boys. Good luck with painting them and don't forget to sand, primer, paint, clear. Don't rush things and take your time. Also I wrote about how to paint my badges in my own thread that is in my signature. Good luck

I used Testors One-Coat lacquer in Blazing Black...it isn't quite black but rather a dark charcoal metallic color. Topped it with Testors One-Coat Wet Clear...from 5 feet away looks just like the black pearl emblems.

Testors models paints usually work well. That is what I use and I never had any issues or chipped from the paint.

Well the painting is the relativelty "easy" part. Getting them off to paint...thats where the fun begins at least thats what ate up all my time and patience.

Thats tru ^^^ need some goo gone and dental floss as well as maybe a flat head screw driver and be very careful and patient.

A small flathead with the tip taped up works well...dental floss just shredded for me (they were glued on by a PO). Once they are off clean both surfaces well with GooGone. I didn't bother with putting on the correct mounting tape when I reinstalled them either...just used 3M trim and emblem adhesive on the pins. Have been on well over a year now with no issues.

A quick tip while you are removing the emblems is to surround them with blue painters tape. It will protect the area from scratches while your removing the emblems. Also, you will need a heat source to warm the glue...and NOT a propane torch... j/k. If you have a heat gun or I used a hair dryer along with goo gone and PATIENCE Lots and LOTS of patience will be the key. I also used one of those razor scrapers...had a longer surface area for leverage in combination with the screw driver and was able to get under the glue.

dupli-color should b fine. as long as you clean the emblems good before you paint. ive painted emblems i had lying around before to try it out, i lightly sanded them with 2000 grit wetsand paper then washed them off. then i premiered the emblem then painted them. im stuck at school right now but ill post some pics later on

Why don't you get your emblems in black chrome? You can buy them at the dealer you would pay extra ,but it would look better then painted yourself. I like the painting idea with other methods ,but the turnout isn't that good.
