Longer run time then conventional bulbs also. I say go for it if you know someone that is really good with sodering and have them do it for you.
Doesn't have anything to do with the soldering method as much as it is about the solders ability to withstand heat. Solder has a fairly low melting point and you can heat it up enough to turn it malleable under slightly above normal loads. Once it starts to get warm enough to get soft and cools back down.......... BAM!..... Herpes. Oh, no wait.... I mean cold solder joint.

This is the part you can't get around, the big "whoops my tail lights don't work anymore, but I built them with 2 layers of solder, why don't they work???" Hell, build them with as many bridges as you want in there, once it gets warm and softens up, cold solder joint. LED tails simply are fundamentally flawed in their design. They load too much to keep the solder from having cold joints.

If I had LED Tails and one little bulb burned out it would drive me totally nutts!

Flaws stand out, even more so with lights. When I go to Vegas and I see a light burned out I always think how embarrassing that is. Don't want that on the *** end of my car.

$1500 is a lot for led taillights, though they do look better than the clearcorners ones at $2500

Brian is right. They are very flawed in there design. No way around it really. Unless someone went out of the way to design a coolong system for them. I doubt it's gonna be worth it. Although if I had some money to burn I'd buy them.

Hey OLT, what if someone were to put epoxy over the solders? Wouldn't that prevent it from actually moving anywhere, so even if it did get warm and shift, it wouldn't have anywhere to go, and still provide conductivity? Or basically it would melt the epoxy? Just curious....

Cold solder joints have nothing to do with the placement of the solder, it is a bond-rebond chemical change.

That's why you retrofit OE spec guts into these, way cheaper and OE quality.
