Cool Rear speaker size?

Hi guys,

What are the rear speak sizes for a 1993 SC400 with factory CD player, non-Nakamichi? I recently replaced the fronts with a set of Infinity Kappa 4" components, much better than stock, getting ready to replace the rears. Thanks in advance.

The rears are 4s too. You could fit 6.5s in both the front and the rears. You can easily drop 6.5s in the rear, but to fit the fronts, you'll have to remove the whole speaker enclosure (a black plastic oblong box) and make your own MDF baffle. You get much, much, MUCH better midrange excursion with 6.5s s opposed to 4s. Replacing the stock stereo deck improves clarity and detail too and replacing the stock amp gives you cleaner power to the speakers and thus higher power handling for CRANKING it.

Thanks.

How much modification does it take to drop in 6.5"s in the rear?

None. Some aftermarket manufacturers won't have the same spacing with the screws as the OE speakers, so the most you'll have to do is drill a couple new holes in the rear dash. My Boston ProSeries didn't line up with any of the screws even though they came with 4 or 5 interchangeable mounting plates. Don't drill the holes in the speaker to line up with the factory holes!

I dont know how there is no modification to drop in 6.5" in the rear. I had to make a 1" spacer so mine could fit.

well i guess it depends on the magnet on the back and how much space it needs to flush.

Maybe I should have been more precise, what model of JL would would fit, due to the limited space for depth?
