Default 96 SC400 overheating - Please assist!

Mechanic said my fan looks like it's running slow. Wasn't a Lexus certified tech though. Never had any problems before 2 weeks ago. Also advised I may have exhaust in my water. Cracked block? Is the engine done? Not in the position for the most expensive repair right now. My ear is open for any suggestions or feedback.

Thank you

There's no way we can tell you. Those issues are usually hard to troubleshoot even when looking directly at it. Needs to be gone through.

Thanks. As they say, "pay me now or pay me later". I'll be paying for it one way or another.

exhaust in your water? you mean water in your exhaust?

OLT is right, you need to open it up. if you have water getting in then it may be your intake gasket or a bunch of different stuff. i would like to say intake but possibly even headgasket? not so sure about the headgasket but you should at the least be experiencing some cylinder misfire if there is a good amount of water going in.

I would check radiator and all cooling stuff first cause its less expensive to replace.
you should fill up your system and see if and how long it takes to run dry.

This may sound obvious but is your coolant level fine? Not by checking the overflow though. With the engine cool, take off the top coolant hose from the radiator and try pouring coolant directly into the block. Low coolant levels are sometimes not reflected in the overflow reservoir.

what color smoke are you blowing out? if its white your coolant in getting in and your have a blown head gasket, and or a blown water pump as well. but it could just be the fan itself thats making it run slow. but a water pump would be reasonable if your overheating and have water in yoru exhuast or exhaust gases/ residue in your coolant.

It's Exhaust gases in my water. No smoke blowing out, yet. Doesn't seem to have any cylinder misfire. Brand new radiator and thermostat put in. That was my first repair. It could possibly be the head gasket but heard that would be quite expensive. Water pump may be the next thing I can try. I need to find out if my fan is doing it's job also. Since it's a hydraulic fan are there alot of parts to change out or is the fan one unit?
