Who else drives their SC in the SNOW?
#35
I just put my GS into storage today, I've been putting it off but the snow and cold are here to stay and Jeembo's pic shows what's going on right now here. Driving a 95 Cadillac Deville for the winter, things a tank and I'm used to FWD in the snow, I miss my GS though.
Like the post above me, I got caught in some snow in the GS with 285/30/20 Falkens in the back a couple weeks ago. Wasn't pretty! I've only driven it a couple times since then when the roads were clear, couldn't quite make myself put it away but it had to be done with another snowstorm hitting us tonight.

SC's Can Survive in the Snow...with the right equipment
Where in IA are you? Davenport IA here.
I've driven my 94 SC400 in the winter over the past 3 years and didn't have any problems (except for getting temporarily stuck in front of my driveway once and a little slipping here and there). The Quad Cities have PLENTY of hills to surf up/down, but she does fine...even with plenty of ice and, occasionally, heavy snow. All she wore were All-Seasons (front and back) on OEM 16''s. I planned on switching back to the OEms from my new 18" High-Performance All-Season Falkens, but I hoeful that they would work in teh snow. Well, last Monday I was taking a turn at ~10-15 mph and slowly slid off into a curb, trashing my right front wheel. Needless to say, the 18"s had to come off ASAP and I re-installed the older 16" all-seasons. I haven't found a need for Blizzacks, but they would make me feel a lot better. I will probably add some weight in back this year, just to give it a shot...there goes the mpg.

i drove it last year, I throw my stockers back on (wrapped in directional 245's) and let it kick out.
whoever said 2nd gear was on the right track.
just stay one gear higher than you would be in the summer.
powerwasher is a good idea. I check the underside of the car periodically if i decide to drive in winter. If you see any questional spots developing, be sure and adress it early on by sanding/cleaning, whatever you gotta do, then give it a coat of that rustoluem stuff they make for the underside of cars. I think it sprays on clearish, and if it hits rust it turns black. I cant remember exactly, my SC has been rust free so far.

Had some fairly serious snow over the weekend, been out in it twice now without the slightest problem. Stock 225/55-16 Eagles with less than half tread, but this thing is a regular snowmobile! I've got stock suspension too, which helps I'm sure, as does the 75lb weight I put in the trunk. Dead predictable handling, with no tendency to oversteer or understeer. A blip of the throttle will throw the tail out, but recovery is instant.
I'm extremely impressed - Lexus really did a great job of suspension design and balance with this car!

What kind of rims are those IonFeright? Your SC looks good in the so cal snow (Who would have ever thought it'd snow here).
I try to avoid driving my SC in the rain, so hopefully it will never see snow.
