it snows very little here in ga, the snow quickly melts a lil and freezes into ice,

ice + sc with no trac + wide low profile wheels = ditch, my sc is in the garage, driving the jeep around for now, the snow melted and froze last night and i drifted into my driveway with the jeep =)

Driven my SC in the snow for 4 years now on stock wheels with Yokohama all-seasons without an issue. Like previous poster stated, keep the gas tank full and don't think you have 4-wheel drive. Suspension mods have made driving in the snow this year even more fun...installed coilovers about 6 months ago and dropped it, makes me an even better snow plow and with them on the stiffest setting I can just tap the break and turn the wheel to go sideways.

All in all, not a bad car in the winter, just don't go crazy if you aren't familiar with what your car will/won't do yet.

It's supposedly going to snow here in Oklahoma City today, but I can't drive my SC in it. I just put brand new SUMMER tires on it and I hear those straight up suck in the snow/ice. I sure would love to drive a different SC in the snow though.

I used to hate this car in the winter. I just picked up a set of Pirelli Winter Carving Edge (they were on closeout, so they were $79/ea).

205/60/16 and they grip like a motherf***er in the snow. I have to really try to keep my foot out of it; because I can get going quick while staying sideways in these things; they're probably going to get me in trouble.

We are having a little ice problem here in Dallas this week. I drive a '96 SC400 (no traction control) on stock size Yoko AS530's with good tread. I can't get enough traction to even make it over the speed bumps in my parking lot. It just sits there and spins the tires, even at idle.

I'm considering adding a few 50 pound bags of sand to the trunk. Anyone have any thoughts if that will help and how many I should try?

Extra weight will definitely help. Two or 3 bags should do. I got out last night and I was surprised at well my SC did.
