Unhappy Need Help With Rims

Hello, everybody

I've been trying to buy a set of rims along with tires as a package at http://www.wheelmax.com I've been struggling to find the right rims for at least three weeks now, as the guys working there either don't have the ones I want in stock or they don't fit on my SC400. Now what they are saying is that all the wheels there will look ugly on my car due to the fact that my car is a rear wheel drive. (?? need explanation here ) And from other threads I discovered that I need to put on rims of different width on the front and rear. Where are some places I could puchase rims of this combination? And does it really really look ugly if i put on rims of same size all around my sc400? (my car is not lowered...)

I'd appreciate it alot if you guys could help me out..

I am a little purplexed after reading your note. Front vs Rear wheel drive makes no difference.

Here is my advice. Go on over to www.tirerack.com and go to the wheels section. Choose the Lexus SC in the correct year and even choose the color of your car. A picture of the the SC will appear and below it, a list of many suitable rims will appear. When you click on the wheel size the wheels will appear as an overlay on the picture of the car.

Many wheel sets there will show a wider rear wheel treatment as an option. Others may not. I have purchased a set of 18's from them recently and the fitment was perfect for the SC.

Do realize that wheels are often out of stock. As an example the 18x8 fronts came quickly but I had to wait 3 months for the 18x10 rears. Thats the way these things are.

So go on over to the Tirerack website and see what the wheels will look line on your car. As far as how they look, that is your taste, none of us can help you out there.

Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate it, Red93sc400.

I did check out some of the wheels at tirerack.com, but the price was a little bit higher than what I am willing to spend. I'm a bit tight on budget. I only can spend 1500 - 1600 on rims, tires, lugs combined. Here are some rims that I'm looking at. What do you think? Any problem with the fitment? Info regarding these two wheels are here: http://superbuytires.com/wheels_by_b...l=Turbo&id=517
and http://superbuytires.com/wheels_by_b...ssion5&id=7120

And does it really not matter to have rims of same size on both the front and rear?

dude, put some GS400 wheels on your car and call it a day. You can grab a set when they come up on the GS board and I guarantee you will be happy with them. Nothing beats somes snazzy rims with the Lexus logo on them.

No, it really does not matter much to have the different width tires front and rear. This is a matter of taste. Our SC's came from the factory with all 5 tires the same. The real wide tires in the back means you cannot rotate your tires which is an issue.

I can relate to your issue about cash. The suggestion about the 5 spoke GS400 17" rims is a valid one. If you go to www.aaarims.com you may be very pleasantly surprised to find the GS400 17" rims on sale there. Go have a look. Happy Day eh?

I just put my GS400 chromes on my car and they look terrific. I will snap some photos in the next few days. I picked them up right after I purchased my car in October and I am very happy with them.

Thank you so much for your replies, everyone.
I'm so relieved to hear that it doesn't matter what size of wheels you put on.
