Default Wood trim and wood steering wheel....anyone?

2 questions....
1-Do all SC300 and SC400's from 1992 and newer have wood trim? Or was this just an option?
2-Wood steering wheel....anyone here put one on? Where did you buy yours from, price, etc.?

I inquired about the wood steering wheel too, and there is a company in cali that will do the custom work for you. I believe it is called American Stitches........do a search on yahoo and see what you come with on that company.

Here is the place Johnny mentioned:

For an SC, a wood wheel was never an option, so other than the above link and having your own wheel redone, you would need to get one off of a new GS AND replace the airbag.

I'm not sure about 99 and 00 SC's as they had 3 spoke wheels (looks great) but no wood - I don't know if you could keep the same airbag.

As far as wood in general goes - wood is standard on all cars. 98-00 got wood around the shifter/ashtray when they changed the transmission (wood can't be used on earlier models).

If you want aftermarket wood around the shifter (and more) go to www.wooddash.com and get a B&I kit. Someone posted pics of this a few weeks back.

BTW: I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A PIC OF AN SC WITH A WOOD WHEEL!

On a similar topic, does anyone know of a relatively easy conversion from the pre-97 leather/plastic 'shift pole' to a 97+ wood/chrome gated shifter? That's the one single thing I dislike about the '95.

Well I asked this because I saw an older es300 with a wood steering wheel.
Is the conversion to the GS wheel a direct fit? Also...you mention the airbag...would I need to put a GS airbag in?

92-98 is a 4 spoke wheel and will not work with new GS wheel. 99-00 is a 3 spoke wheel and might work, but I don't know. Bottom line - if you own a 92-98 SC you would need to buy an airbag as well.

I'm still waiting to see SC pictures with a wood wheel - anyone, Beuler?

I emailed American stitches on what it might cost to have the wood steering wheel done. I will post when they email me back about a price.

Actually on a related note...so the 98-2000 3 spoke steering wheels from the SC cannot be retrofitted onto a pre 98 that had the 4 spoke wheels?
Do all 92 sc400's have leather steering wheels too? I thought someone once told me their steering wheel was not leather....
