Default Turbo question

How much would it cost to turbo an SC 300 to 700HP? I'm talking about with installation and everything. And who has the fastest SC on these boards?

LOL Clint

clint's car ^^^ is pretty fast... it did go to the flatbed but it also dynoed 765 to the ground...

basically the formula to get a SC300 to 700rwhp is the same as a Supra... big turbo, big fuel, good computer control of both and wham... big power...

To get a SC300 to 700rwhp with installation you're looking at around $16-17k most likely

without installation prolly around $14k-$15k And thats if you buy and pay retial for everything

Clint's car WAS pretty fast until he broke it

Ebanks car, when they are done in a month or so; should be the fastest
he has a drag car basically... T72 turbo, and 150shot of nitrous and a standalone programmable ECU... oh and slicks and a racing automatic

Would you be able to use a 700HP SC as a daily driver?

Jeff you picked a T70? good choice

PlayaSC,

yes they are plenty streetable for daily drivers provided you don't put full drag suspension on them like Ebanks is prolly doing

Bean,

Thanks man. You been very helpful. One more question, about how fast would a 700HP SC run a 1/4 mile? That's without NOS.

Bean, Ethan is using a SP74 turbo and the SpeedPro DFI. Oh, and his dyno on the old motor with an SP63 was 662rwhp on the spray if I remember right, and it was 520's off the bottle. Oh, and how many all-out drag cars you see with a PS2, VCR, Zapco amps, and Pioneer AV install? I can hear Ethan now, it's bone stock! honest! no, that's the a/c compressor there, it's big on these cars....

My car should be totally streetable. Last year with a somewhat messed up tranny and the first time I have ever launched it on slicks it pulled a 1.55 60-ft with bone stock suspension, so we are keeping that suspension setup. We are shooting for 1.40 or lower 60-fts this year, which we think is doable. We swapped in a 6 speed TT rear diff instead of the automatic tt diff it had for the extra MPH.

The only thing on my car that might not be as streetable as it was is the tranny, but I think even the new setup should be plenty streetable, just a bit touchy.

Last year it did 662 RWHP... We found out a week or so later that was with a bad cylinder, and also the converter not locking up (which we were told by the converter manufacturer would result in 25% MINIMUM drivetrain loss as opposed to it locking up with should have been more like 20% drivetrain loss. The nitrous setup last year was also not the greatest thing ever, as when on the spray the car would run a 9.x:1 air/fuel and brake up like crazy. It still manages to make decent power though, and I can't wait to see what this thing will do this year! My roll cage was done last week, and once we get the interior back together I will post pics of it all.... We have to pull the windshield to drop the dash back in around the cage, so it may be a few days!

As far as how much will it cost? Now that a few people have spent time making things and trying out different setups it should be cheaper than what I have spent, but I have around $100k in mine, including the car price. That also includes blowing up 2 motors (actually the same POS block that was causing the problem from the previous owner), and now I have the motor going in the car, and a complete built spare for if/when it pops.

You HAVE to budget and BE READY for repairs, because going this fast is not easy on things, and THINGS WILL BREAK. This doesn't mean you can't daily drive the car, but if you are going to a track to beat on a car, or going out racing you should expect at least something small to happen. I drive my car every day when I have it and it gets 20+MPG around town, without a problem. That was with 75lbs/hr injectors (still for sale), and now it is getting 95lbs/hr injectors and big cams, so hopefully it will still get 17-20MPG. I run 104 unleaded as my daily gas.

What am I blabbing about? I will stop now.

BTW, my sig is still a lie, and I will fix it when my car runs, so I know the truth about what all we end up doing

a 700rwhp lexus can be completly streetable...but i wouldnt drive it all day at 28psi of boost....the beauty of a turbo is you run 10-20 psi for daily driving....depending on what ya like...and if a pesky viper or bike pulls up next to you you push the high boost button goto 28 psi and smoke em.......then back down to 15psi for the trip to the supermarket and a Mcdonalds drive through....

LEX Luthor......man...im telling ya....KEEP the 400 as a daily driver/stocker....and buy a sc300 to toy with......that whay when your wrenching one the sc300...you can still drive around the 400.......the 400 is a great smooth stock car...the 300 is grat to play with and build up.........Jeff
