if it would go for 7k, then i would get it. if not, wait for another deal.... but i think you might be able to get it for cheaper since he will probably not be able to sell it for a while since many people are afraid of gas prices going back up soon..... gl

I can't speak for California, but here in Massachusetts a 98-00 SC400 comes for sale about once a year (no lie). It took me 3 years to get my SC400, and I ended up settling with a 97 instead of a 98+. I don't regret my decision. I would love to have gotten the 98 with 5 speeds and vvti, but even if I could have found one, they rarely list around here for less than $10k.
To give you an example of their rarity, I did a search today on autotrader for a 98-00 SC400. Regardless of mileage, year, color, or condition, the closest one to Boston is 461 miles away! Its a white 98 with 116k miles listed at $11,988.
Personally in spite of the mileage, I would consider the SC400 you're looking at a really good deal (so long as its got a clean title of course). You could try haggling the price down, but no matter what its a steal in my books. Had it been selling near me about a year ago before I bought my SC, I probably would have jumped on that.

I'm SICK AND TIRED of the good deal bad deal should I buy this car or not... Threads god. I want some real threads about information important to the CL community . I was a an active member at SF for over 3 years when are people gonna learn to freaking use the search tool. Go to craigslis, auto trader eBay they all will help you assess what a car is worth. Sorry for ranting but all the area code threads and should I buy this threads are getting on my nervs.
Then why would you post in it or add to it ...........
