bad parts?
So I had 4 wheel studs break of about 3 weeks ago. I went to autozone, bout 5 new wheel studs and installed them. On my way home after my chargers were defeated I felt a slight vibration that went away. Park my car and notice 3 wheel studs (the same ones I replaced)0 had snapped of. So I had 2 studs and lug nuts holding my wheeel on. Did I get a shotty part? Any ideas as to why this happened to the same wheel? The wheel was balanced and re balanced. I dunno why this happened again. All the others are fine!

may be bad parts. i would not trust studs from autozone anyways. dont go to the dealer either. go to a yard and find an sc and take the studs off of it or order the ARP studs made for the is300. its a direct swap in out cars. the studs are extended too. if you run aftermarket wheels and lugnuts you might need to switch to an open lug nut to make it work.
i had the same issue as you this summer. i was leaving one evening to go play ice hockey and as i drove half a block i felt an unusual vibration. i had a feeling it might be something with my e-brake shoes since a few days prior i was at a drift event. left the car at home and took my moms van to the game. next morning i looked at the car and the supra TT wheel was held on by 2 lugnuts. lucky i didnt drive.
i replaced the 3 studs with some spares i had at home. i marked the one i replaced. i went to torque down the lug nuts and spanned the other 2 that didnt get replaced. nothing special. only torqued to about 75lbs.
i had to take it apart again, back wheel, and replace those two. its an easy job just a bit time consuming with the e-brake assembly removal.
lesson learned. use new studs or ARP studs.
i think my studs failed like that because i was drifting on some nissan 300zx wheels in the rear and the centerbore on them is bigger then the toyota one. toyota centerbore is 60.1mm and nissan is 65mm i believe. i did not have a hubcentric ring of any kind and it put too much stress on the stud.
in your case i think its bad parst though. i would take it back to them and get a refund.

I think first we have to think about why they broke off the first time. A wheel balance, alignment, or bushing change would do absolutely nothing to fix the problem. What are you torquing your lug nuts to?? Are you using the correct type of lug nut for the wheel you have??

I am using the lugs for my after market rims torqued to spec. i wanna say like 75lbs, I am going to pic up some studs so i can get around town, meanwhile I will probably order the arp wheel studs. I have no idea why they just break, i also dont know how to check to see if the wheel bearing is bad. But when the studs are all there the car rolls super smooth. Any other ideas? I dont mind swapping in studs but it is very time consuming!!

ok so i went with new wheel studs. This time install only took 45 min total time. I torqued to 80 ft.lb asd i plan on checking the torque after 100 miles. So i noticed this time the wheel studs were all the same. Last time they looked slightly different. After speaking with the parts guy he said the autozone employees then to be retarded and they all hire family cuz its easier. (not my opinion, the kragen guys). He thinks they may have given me studs for the front instead of the rear and he showed me a distinct difference. So i am hoping it is just bad parts. I am more then likely just gonna order a set of the is300 arp wheel studs as mentioned!

holu shnizzle...Last time i checked i had the hubcentric ring on there. Then again that was like 1 flat tire ago. The last person who touched the car was discount tire. I think ill pop off the wheel and check. If not then i have found my answer!! thanks Teal
