Default ECU Location

Hey all, I'm a newbie here.

I took a look through search and I can't seem to find where the location of the ECU is on the SC300.

I just got a 1993 SC300 with a 1JZ-GTE swap. I want to check the wiring on the SAFC-2 that is in it because it is running really rich.

Problem is, I don't know where the ECU is in the car.

Help me out if you can. THanks!

From what i have found from searching this location is correct for the 400. Does anyone know where the ECU is on the 300? I have looked in my manual and it shows behind the glove box but the dealer has told me it's near the radio. i just don't want to disassemble my whole dash looking for this thing.

peel back the passenger side carpet directly underneath the glove box.

there will be a black plastic cover looking thing with a few screws in it.
remove the screws and the ECU is directly beneath this.

All car companies have different names for there computer that control the engine. ECM,PCM,ECU there all the same different names cause possible copyright issues or something along those lines. There are mulitple computers for different systems in the car. The engine ECU is on the passengers side ON THE FLOOR final answer!

These cars have ten billion different ECU's- don't be freaked if you pop the cover and there's two. You should just be concerned with the one on the left...I'm talking like there aren't going to be a whole ton of tell-tale wires spliced in.... ...

LOL! Narrow that down to about 20 or less. There small relay boxes ,but the engineers like to call them computers. Newer Lexus vehicles have over 33 computers I couldn't name them all I would have a stroke! SC300's and SC400's have the same setups on where they put the computers ,but the computers differ if they have 2 more or less cylinders.

found it. was much easier to find than the manual suggested. Thanks a lot guys. question though: why doesn't the dealer have a way to test these things while they're out of the car? If i could drive the car there, i wouldn't need the ECU tested.

They are about getting there time for job and diagnosing what the concern is. It would take awhile to wire these pins on the ECU. The one connector under the drivers side plugs into the dealer tool and they can get the info they need. There are other numerous testing procedures and hints to finding out problems with ECU's. If the computer is bad they have outsourcing companies that do the testing/rebuilding for them. They would really be the people to go to.
