Default shift boot/**** ringish thing???

does any of you guys know about this red circled part in the picture???

i was wondering if i can purchase that add-on for my shifter, i replaced my shift **** and there is a ugly gap in between the **** and the boot, so i was wondering if i can get one of those to fill up the gap, and i really like how it looks too...

this one is from STI

it might be something only on the 6 speed supras... you claim to have a 5speed sc300...so, i dont think this part would concern you much....

do you have a specific question about that piece?

for some 6-speeds you pull the little ring section up to go into reverse... i had a VW and you pressed the entire shifter down and you go into first and its actually reverse... but the newer cars you pull it up and go into reverse like normal... but then again it could just be a spacer

would be pointless, maybe kinda ricer, why not just tie your shift boot up higher.

its to bypass the reverse lockout like dunahoo said. Pull up on it and itll go into reverse, dont pull it and it goes into a forward gear. its integrated into the shifter so no you cant buy one to solve your prob sorry.

Its so you don't mess the transmission up when you want to shift into 6th and hit reverse by accident.

It's easy! Step 1: buy a V160...and that's it! Nice thread title by the way.
