Default Attention All Lexus Owners!!

Urgent info for all Lexus and other vechile owners!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------

I noticed my car was leaking oil from underneath car plastic cover. Then last night I started smelling burning oil, I exited the freeway right AWAY and pulled into a well lighted gas station.

My SC was dripping ALOT of oil from plastic cover below the engine and when I opened my hood, smoke was coming from rear engine compartment.

I next had my car towed to my mechanic shop, I did not want to chance anything happening to engine.

Today, my mechanic inpsected my car and told me that my oil filter had a minuate(small) hole. This was where the leak was coming from and my plastic engine cover was soaked with oil!!!

I just did a FULL synthenic oil(M1) change with Mobile 1 oil filter. Yes, it was a Mobil 1 oil filter. (less then 2 weeks ago)

This is my first BAD experience with Mobile oil filters.

Is there any recourse on Mobil? I thank God that I did not blow my engine but it would have been the responbility of M1 I think.

I'm pea-ed about paying $12 bucks for a filter that this is not supposed to happen too.

I have filter and will post pictures. The hole is very noticeably small coming from inside filter(after shaving some paint from outside of filter the hole becomes visible)

Any suggestions on how to approach Mobile with this issue???

I know that we all use Mobil oil products to keep our rides in
tip-top condition so ALL BEWARE and warned!!!!

Did anyone have similar situation with this issue??

Unhappy

Never had that problem yet. I always use cheap oil filter and the cheap filter haven't give me any trouble yet.
I would say M1 need to pay for the damage or at least your time (a lot of money). For sure that they don't want that info. get on the news...

I'm sure if you ***** enough to them, they will cover the towing charges and the cost for a new synthetic oil change and filter...... But thats about the most you cold get.

Get and keep all documentation. Get that filter in your possession. A write up (which you write) and is signed by the inspecting mechanic will be a good thing to have.

Then, if I were you, I would contact customer service at Mobil with the data.

I would state that I wanted...

1) replacement oil and filter
2) recompense for towing
3) recompense for mechanic labor
4) cleaning of engine compartment

if you can get all that you come out whole and they shine.
A win win. They may want the filter for inspection and quality control measures.

It could have been alot worse.
