Default Purchasing a 93 Sc400 have a few questions..

Here are some of the particulars on the SC:

the right side window needs a motor
* The drivers side upholstery is less than desirable
* The transmission does not go out of 1st
* 185k+ miles on the car
* there are 2 dents on the front left side with some scratches on
the left door that needs repair
* A/C and Heat both work just fine.
* Timing belt, water pump and radiator are 1.5 years old and I
have not driven the car much since then as I work 3.2 miles from where I
live.
* engine runs just fine
* Battery is dead
* Car is drivable but will further damage the Transmission

The seller wants 1500 for the car but will mor than likely take a cash offer of 1200 or less. (my offer goal would be 1000)

I'm planning on a 1JZ swap so the trans would not be an issue. Also interior would be redone as well.

Sound good? Any trouble spots to look for?
Thanks

There is an old quote that goes: You can't polish a turd...

SC's are EXPENSIVE to own and operate, if your purchase budget is $1k i would say check the overall condition and if its not at least decent find a different car, if you have more then buy the nicest car to start with because it will cost more to "fix up" a crappy car than to just buy a nice one to begin with.
Everyone "plans" a 1jz swap but once reality sets in and they realize that to get it done RIGHT it will be $3-5k and most dont follow through so unless you have that kind of money to do it hanging around right now get something nicer.

ha i hate to be a pain but mythbusters proved you actually can polish a turd. but ya the car sounds like it may be a little rough but if your doing the swap a lot of the hard stuff is already done. i'd still concider getting it

the outside dings and dents shouldnt be any problem.. for now. cosmetics shold be the last thing on your mind when you're trying to get a decent car :P

I thought the 1jz swap was always easier if you use sc300 platform, but with me having a sc400 and it being a 93' I would say look at the exhaust system closely as well as the suspension and bushings on the vehicle, those are my trouble spots, but for 1k I'd GO FOR IT!
