Default Radio Making Popping/Skipping sounds

I search and couldnt turn up anything.

Stereo is making a popping noise that sounds a lot like a skipping CD. It does this in all modes....i.e. radio, cd player, etc. The sound still comes through like its trying to play its just all choppy. Its all in time meaning its not an irregular ticking.

This started out of nowhere. I had not just left the car wash or anything. I checked for loose/blown fuses and those are all good.

Im guessing the amp could be bad? But if that were the case it shouldnt play anything at all, right?

Anyway, Im stumped. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Your stock stereo just took a crap on you, it happens to all of them sooner or later, luckily metra just came out with a dash kit so its time to go shopping for as new head unit and a sub/amp setup.

yea, mine just starting doing the the same thing about a month ago. when you replace the radio, do you have to replace the amp as well? someone was telling me that when you have a system like nakimichi (not sure of the spelling) you have to replace the amp and speakers as well. is this true?
