Buying an sc400, mabye...
I have looked at the sc400 that has 70k miles on it. I was wondering if you guys think the car is worth it... its a 1996 SC400 70k miles... How much would you buy this car for? When I test drove the car for 20 minutes i noticed loud crackling sounds under the car, its as if the muffler was too hot and it started to contract the metal. Is that normal? Or is that a problem?

they are asking 7.8k for it, absolutely everything works, I checked just to make sure, radio, antenna, lighting, its a clean title never been in an accident, paint is perfect, interior is good, power seats work, moonroof, and ect. btw anyone get the feeling that they are driving an oldsmobile type of car inside, but when you look outside it looks really nice? lol

The price is a tad high in today's market but the car sounds great. Low miles, and if everything is working as it should I would negotiate for it

Check to see if the cars has its resonators removed. My exhausts started making that crackling type of sound once in a while after i had my resonators deleted. Heads up: thats probably wats makin it sound so good too

The crackling you hear has to do with the old school "type I" cats, especially as they get carboned up, the new fuel that builds up on them flashes and pops.

get the car already! these cars are one of the best ever made.. timeless styling, toyota reliability, features that's way ahead of its time.. and when you do, upgrade the exhaust especially headers to free up some ponies, and not to mention that V8 rumble..

I would be weary of the Price. Sometimes things go higher than there worth. My car is a 92 with 100k restored salvage and not nearly as in good of condition.
I bought it for $1250.
