no there was never any sc400 that came factory as a 5-speed. the w-58 5-speed will not bolt up to the sc400 and plus, the sc400 v8 is a little to much for the w-58. but they do make adapter plates to blot the supra 6-speed up to it.

Incorrect, the W58 will handle the 1UZ fine. Boost the 1UZ and thats all she wrote though...W58 will handle up into the low 300s as far as power goes.
