Default Making an early SC Audible Beep when Locking

Well, I aroused some interest when i commented on having made my 92 SC4 have an audible beep when i lock the doors, yes it actually annoyed me THAT much! lol

What i did was fairly simple. You will need 7' of wire, shrink tubing, electrical tape, heat gun, soldering iron, solder, and a multitone siren.

Open up your drivers side door panel, and locate your door lock actuator. Its going to be allll the way in the bottom corner of the door towards the rear corner. There will be about six wires going into it, you can use a volt meter to test which you need to draw a positive voltage burst from, or you can just do what i did; wire the siren first. (mainly because there are 3 separate hot lines going to the actuator).

Pull your driverside front tire off, and remove your inner fender liner. run a wire from the engine bay, through the fender, and out the lower A-pillar, through the rubber hinge harness protector into the door and all the way to the actuator. Mount a siren under the hood, i mounted mine to the fuse box lid, and then ground its negative. Wire its positive to the line you ran to the door. Now sit in the car and start making the doors lock while jamming the wire end into the individual holes in the actuator connector until you get one that produces a sharp, powerful, short burst.

Thats it, finalize all of your connections, put everything back together, and your on your way!!!

Hopes this helps some people, i can post a few pics, and a vid clip later if you guys like.

i like your description of jamming the wire into random sockets to find out the one to tap into. what color wire did you tap yours into? cause im sure if you got it to work, itd be the same wire for everyone.

This is the easy and smart way to an annoying problem.. it only does one beep when you lock it, correct? That's exactly how i hooked up my beeper yesterday but i was going to put in a whole late model system in for one beep and two beep for unlock.. more to come on my end keep an eye out.

This 'audible beep' is the beep that new car models make when locked/unlocked correct? Not a horn sound or anything..

It only beeps when you lock the door, even from the inside with the switch. As far as the tone goes, because im using a multitone siren like you'd find in a car alarm system, by using resistors, or a potentiometer you can change the type of chirp it makes, and how loud.

I dont have mine set up with a potentiometer like it plan to yet, so its a fairly loud, powerful burst.

LoL, the burst isnt that long, and it is really nice to KNOW the doors locked. With a fresh battery in your fob, you can be 20+ feet away and know the doors locked!

I reallly dont remember the color, but i do know that when the connector was orientated like it was on the actuator, it was the row of wires closest to the door skin, the middle wire of that row was it. Regardless, it only takes a few minutes to find the right one, and i reallly dont want to pull my door panel off again to find the color of the wire.
