Default 1993 sc300 fan shroud

I need to replace the radiator fan shroud. It looks like the radiator needs to be removed to get the existing shroud out. Is this correct or am I missing something? I searched but could not find an answer.

Thanks in advance for your help.

tried to take mine out too because it was broken on the bottom, i think your best bet is to remove the fan instead of the radiator. its less messier because youll save yourself from having to drain and refill the rad with coolant.

you dont need a shroud. if it makes you feel better when you pop the hood to show it off then more power to you.

if its really broken simply remove it and call it a day.

Thank you for your help. My car is completely original with very few miles on it. I maintain it and replace broken parts. Roll down your windows, you do not need air conditioning. Have a good day.

To remove shroud, remove the two screws on top, remove the piece below fan blades (2 clips). Then you need to move top radiator hose and battery tray.

the purpose is to direct air from the clutch fan to the radiator. its a duct plain and simple.

if you have the stock clutch fan then it moves a lot of air. its very efficient. the radiator on our cars is huge too.

i havent had a shroud on my car since fall of 2007. summer, winter; daily driving or drifting the car has never overheated without the shroud in place.

i guess i offended the OP that does everything "proper" and maintains his vehicle

I didn't have a fan shroud for the first 6 months I had my SC300. I got one eventually and I think it is more aesthetically pleasing, plus it cant hurt any can it? The shroud is just meant to channel air toward the engine...I guess my point is if you don't have one, don't worry about it, but keep in mind it wasn't put there for no reason.

I really really can't find a fan shroud... I went through alot of junk yard everything is gone. my mechanic it will over heat when stopping in the traffic bc it doesn't have the 60mpg wind. how you guys went drifting and still have no problem with it??

thanks

your mechanic said it will overheat? that would be the general rule of thumb if you never worked on the SC or just dont know the car.

my car has been drifted and daily driven for almost 2 years with no fan shroud...rain or shine.

the radiator on our car is huge. it keeps it cool no matter what pretty much. we dont have honda sized radiators. the a/c condenser on our car is bigger then a honda radiator

In Ohio, I probably wouldn't worry about replacing it. If you were in southern AZ like me, my answer would be different. You also have the option of installing electric fans, which eliminate the need for a shroud, free up a little horsepower, makes wrenching a little easier, and increase fuel mileage.
